OUR STORY

Our restaurant history goes back to 1976 when Karim's father opened the original Corner Cafe in Sheepscar Leeds.  One of the first Indian restaurants to open in Leeds it became a Leeds landmark and was popular with students and professionals alike.  It's sister restaurant, our current site, was opened in 1986 by Karim and has been through many changes.  In 1993 Karim took a break and the site was leased out, however in 2004 he refurbished the restaurant and decided to run it again, but this time with Kate.

Karim and Kate actually met in the restaurant.  Kate came to Leeds as a student and applied for a job as a waitress in 1990. The rest as they say is history and over 30 years on they now run the restaurant together.  In August 2010 we added a mezanine floor, creating a more intimate space and enabling us to add a bar.  Now, as well as the usual offerings of Cobra and Kingfisher, we are able to offer a wide selection of local bottled ales and great quality wines.

The restaurant also has an unusual pudding menu with up to 25 different flavours of home-made kulfi on offer.

You can now take Kates' Kulfi home with you, we sell 100ml pots and 1 litre tubs of all your favourite flavours.
